Lakeside is the least populated town in Colorado, and we like it that way. We are only 1/5 of a square mile, making us smaller than some of the larger (and, therefore, more frightening) shopping malls. Of that size, about a fifth of it is Lake Rhoda (renamed from West Berkeley Lake during the Great Depression; when a business owner rescued the Lakeside Amusement Park from bankruptcy, he named the lake after his daughter). We are near the most-heavily populated part of Colorado, Denver, and we like that as well.
Most of our town is taken up by the lake, an amusement park, and a shopping center, but the homes are just as important. Given that there are only a handful of houses, any loss is a notable one.
