Mold Cleanup and Restoration for Your Business

Time is most important when dealing with mold in your business. In as little as 48-72 hours, mold can begin to grow and spread throughout your property, causing allergens and other irritants to reproduce. This can have negative effects on the health of your employees, customers, and your overall business. Mold issues can cause alarm among employees susceptible to allergens. Some may develop such severe symptoms from workplace mold, the term “sick building syndrome” was coined to describe it. SERVPRO professionals respond quickly to your call to assess your situation. We use advanced equipment and experience in mold mitigation to determine the source of your mold problem. Our goal is to safely complete the cleanup and restoration process with minimal disruption to your business operations.

What Is Mold?

When your business develops a mold problem, it can be an unsightly nuisance that can make your place seem less than clean. Depending on the source behind it, mold could also mean more serious problems that could lead to disruption in your daily business functions. Mold is a natural part of the environment, and it cannot be completely eradicated. Mold spores are present almost anywhere that moisture and oxygen are present—both indoors and outdoors. They can enter your building in many ways, including open windows, HVAC systems—even on clothing.

Any mold damage on your commercial property should be taken seriously to avoid further damage and should be remediated promptly. It only takes a few days for mold spores to thrive and spread around your business, and often begins with a musty odor in the air. That’s when it’s time to call mold remediation specialists like SERVPRO, who will assess your mold issue and work to determine the source so that damage causing mold doesn’t return.

Do I really need mold remediation?

Finding mold in your home or business can be troubling, and it’s natural to want to get rid of it fast. Because mold spreads fast and can sometimes be inconspicuous, it’s best practice to call in professionals like SERVPRO to diagnose and address the mold issue for you.

Can you stay in your house during mold remediation?

Depending on the severity of the mold in your home, it is sometimes possible to remain in the home during remediation. One of the first things SERVPRO does before beginning remediation work is to erect containment around the affected area so that it is isolated and to limit cross-contamination in areas not affected.

Can you clean up mold yourself?

It is not recommended that you try to clean mold yourself, but instead have it handled by professionals who have been trained to do so. You can try to determine the water source that is feeding the mold growth and stop or turn off that source. However, be sure not to disturb the mold in doing so.

It’s also a good idea to turn off your HVAC system until a professional can inspect and diagnose your mold issue. Keeping the fans running could spread mold spores and increase damage to your property.
