Nestled in the midst of the Dutch Fork region is the quaint community of Ballentine, South Carolina. Originally settled by the Germans, Swiss and Dutch - includes the land from Newberry to Columbia and between the Saluda and Broad Rivers. 

Mr. Alan Ballentine moved his family to rural South Carolina to farm in the 1850s. In the 1890s the railroad came through the Ballentine property at a stop known as the Ballentine's Mill - later known as Ballentine. The town sprang up around the railroad, as a number of families laid roots in the area. They created an area rich with history, a close-knit community and a remarkable small town feel.

The Ballentine area does not typically experience heavy rainfalls or flooding as it is far enough from both rivers and Lake Murray. However, any residential structure is susceptible to a burst pipe, overflowing toilet or leaking roof!
