Ryland Heights borders the Licking River which separates Kenton County and Campbell County. Ryland Heights has a community of about 922 residents. It is very close to Covington, Kentucky as well. It was founded as a railroad station in the mid-nineteenth century and was a station on the Kentucky Central Railroad. The name Ryland Heights comes from John W. Ryland, a land owner in the area. There was a post office in Ryland that ran from 1873 to 1879. It is a very rural city and there is not much there. Ryland Heights does not even have it's own zip code. It is very close to Cincinnati. A lot of people that visit Ryland enjoy the perks of the Cincinnati-Metropolitan Area such as the Cincinnati Zoo and the Newport Aquarium. The rural community makes it nice to have the best of both worlds- a quiet place to live but the ability to travel to the city.
