Willimantic is one of two tax districts in the town of Windham, Windham County. Willimantic is known for its Victorian-era homes, the Willimantic Footbridge, and the Frog Bridge. Settlers came to the area to settle in 1717. A major rail hub, textile mills, and a wool carding facility brought many people to the area. Many other programs will be added to their calendar in February – June 2026 for children, teens, and adults.
The Willimantic Boom Box Parade is held annually on July 4th, beginning at 11 am at Jillson’s Square and marching to Memorial Park. Registration is not required; however, participants and spectators should arrive early to join the festivities.
