On the fourth of July week, I was having a family reunion at my home and someone accidentally turned on the oven with a plastic bowl inside. Almost instantly the house was filled with black smoke and while the fire was contained to the oven, the entire bottom floor and second floor hallway and doors were also covered with the black soot.
While the firemen were at my home they recommended John from SERVPRO in Norwich to perform the cleaning restoration. I called John and he said he would be over that day to survey the damage. While family and friends gathered outside for a picnic, John unobtrusively came to our home and measured and took pictures of the areas needing cleaning. First thing the next morning John had his employees on site to begin the tedious job of cleaning every nook and cranny of my home. Within three days, the cleaning was done, the area rugs were removed from my home and it was barely noticeable that there was a fire. This cleaning took place swiftly and quietly all the while my home was filled with people for the family reunion.
After the contractors painted and before the delivery of the new furniture, John returned and replaced the clean area rugs and honestly, it all looked like the fire had never happened.
The experience of having a fire with extensive smoke damage is daunting however John and his crew made the cleaning process the easiest part of the restoration. I would recommend John from SERVPRO to anyone wanting quick, reliable results for any type of cleaning or restoration.
