History of Wabash
Wabash, Washington has a long and rich history. In fact, it is one of the oldest settlements in the Pacific Northwest. It was first settled around 1822 by trappers who came to explore this area. They constructed a trading post which they used as a stop over on their way to various other places in the area. As that settlement grew, the name was changed from Fort Hall to Wabash City in honor of the river near their original home in Illinois. In 1872, it became a town under its current name when it was incorporated by popular vote.
