The town of Saugerties has a long and rich history dating back to the mid 1600’s and boasts a great number of historic homes, churches, sawmills, and Native American artifacts. The Dubois-Kierstede Stone House was built in 1727 and still operates today, as the Kierstede House Museum.
More recently, the Orpheum Theatre, built in 1908, hosted celebrities like Lucille Ball and was the hub for vaudeville acts, basketball games and movies. Bob Dylan recorded music in this town in 1967, and Saugerties was the home to the 25th anniversary of Woodstock in 1994 (the original location of Woodstock was just 9 miles away).
The Saugerties Lighthouse was built in 1935 and helped guide boats from the Hudson into the Esopus Creek. Parts of the original foundation still stand next to a newer built lighthouse to aid in navigation. The Esopus Creek has been temperamental over the years and has flooded more than once, leaving both homes and business in need of water damage restoration services. I am writing to recognize Wanda Grinder, she came to the rescue when we had a septic backup.
While I was familiar with SERVPRO’s services a friend suggested I call Wanda directly to ensure a team was expedited quickly and efficiently. My experience with Wanda was nothing less than exceptional. I was in a total state of panic, Wanda was calm but had a strong sense of urgency while being extremely compassionate. She gave direction on what I needed to do with my insurance company, and recommended a septic service provider because the plumber was not resolving the issue. She had her contact reach out to me immediately, had him onsite resolving the issue all within a couple of hours. She stayed in contact with me throughout to ensure we didn’t need anything else, and made sure the SERVPRO team was deployed as soon as we were ready. It was an extremely stressful situation for many reasons and Wanda made me feel totally supported. As an account management/customer service professional I truly value and recognize when someone goes above and beyond. I would also be remiss if I did not acknowledge Gil Ortiz who was very thorough and helpful, and the team that was onsite that did the cleaning (unfortunately I don’t recall these names but hopefully you can reference internally). They were all also very professional and provided superior service. While I hope not to have another disaster I would highly recommend Wanda and SERVPRO to family and friends.

As a property manager, there are a lot of people of moving parts and a lot of people to work with when it comes to remedying damage from water. The office staff was so understanding when I called for help with a terrible mess of water in my house. They made me feel very reassured and fixed the problems faster than I thought.
My hot water heater malfunctioned and leaked into my kitchen and living room, down to the crawl space and insulation there. The team from SERVPRO came in and immediately got to work, they answered all my questions, cleaned everything up and were very polite and understanding.
I needed to my dryer vent cleaned out, they made this so easy. I found them online, called and scheduled a time. It was done quickly, no muss, no fuss. These guys are great.
