SERVPRO and Kingston, a partnership in preparedness
The city of Kingston became New York state’s first capital in 1777 and unfortunately was destroyed by the British after the Battles of Saratoga in the same year. However, it became an important transportation hub in the 19th century and catapulted from there to a vibrant waterfront city with deep roots, perfect for a weekend away.
Kingston is a large city and surrounding suburbs of both single-family, multi-family and apartments has furthered its appeal to those looking to get out of the big city and enjoy both the vibrant, diverse downtown scene or head further out to the woodsier and less populated areas. The city is divided into Uptown, Midtown and Downtown with a different feel in each area. Whether it’s a waterfront feel, something historic, a natural sanctuary or boutique energy, Kingston has it all!
The Rondout National Historic District, also known as the West Strand Historic District, is a must-see when visiting Kingston. Super picturesque with historical buildings, amazing museums, restaurants and located right on the waterfront, there’s always an event, a market or a festival to attend there! Grab a show at the Ulster Performing Arts Center, see antique fire engines at the Volunteer Firemen’s Hall & Museum, or take a historic trolley ride through Kingston!
