Beckley is a city in Raleigh County, West Virginia. It got its name from John James Beckley, the first clerk of the House of Representatives and the first Librarian of Congress. His son, Alfred Beckley, established a settlement here in 1838. However, it was a “town on paper” until 1890, when local mining efforts began the commercial shipment of smokeless coal. Today, over 16,240 people reside here, and the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine can be toured, where visitors can learn about the history of coal mining in Appalachia. The SERVPRO workers were well trained and professional. I especially appreciated they were well trained. Part of my building has a raised floor. The guy wanted to cut a section out of the top layer so he could check the base but I thought that was totally unnecessary. I am so thankful he convinced me to because there was about 1/2 inch of water sitting on the base floor. Thanks for a job well done.
