Salmon Creek is home to roughly 22,000 people and received its name in earlier years due to the abundance of salmon settlers once pulled from the creek. The area has a draw for great education and business opportunities. Washington State University Vancouver campus is located here with programs that attract undergraduate and graduate students alike as well as local walkers due its beautiful walking trails and views of Mt. Hood and Mt. St Helens. Nearby is Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, providing excellent medical care to the greater Vancouver area.
What makes this area so grand is the efforts of the community and uplifting events you can attend. On the weekends there is the local Vancouver Farmers market with a wide variety of Vendors and occasional festivals to celebrate culture, art and food. Downtown is filled with restaurants and shopping where you will surely find something you didn’t know you needed at a local small business.
Salmon Creek is a generally safe area to live in but on occasion has experienced severe weather events like flooding, typhoons and smoke damage from surrounding wildfires. In 1962, Typhoon Freda ripped through Clark County at roughly 90mph wind speed. Airplanes at Pearson Airfield were crumpled like tin cans, fallen trees and branches littered the streets, boats at local marinas had either sunken into the Columbia river or the damage was severe enough that they may as well have been. Typhoon Freda claimed the lives of nearly 50 people and caused, in today's money, about $2.7 billion in storm and water damage restoration. Obviously nobody wants to have to a disaster in their home like we did, but thankfully, SERVPRO fixed everything in minimal time and the job they did was fantastic!
We called right after an upstairs flood. Andrew, a Technician, was on call and called us back immediately. Andrew came out right away, accompanied by Cody. Both were knowledgeable, professional, respectful (wore face masks during COVID pandemic) and thorough - putting us immediately at ease about all of our worries.
In the end, they were careful to only tear down the minimal amount of drywall necessary. Erica in the office handled the insurance and helped us through the process.
Hopefully it will be a long time before we have any further flooding or emergencies, but we would certainly use SERVPRO of Vancouver again if we had to. Highly recommend!!!
