Located on the northern bank of the East Fork of the Lewis River is La Center, Washington. The town received the name due to its convenient midway point for boats and sternwheelers between settlements both up and down river in the mid 1800’s. Surrounding farmers would bring goods and merchandise to this landing for transport until a bridge was built in 1883.
The community has shifted its focus to a slower pace of living with many parks and walking trails like Sternwheeler Park and Heritage trail. Town begins at the fork of NW Lacenter Rd. and E. 4th St. where you will find charming restaurants and casinos. La Center residents are also heavily involved in supporting the school district's athletic teams with major turn out for the La Center Wildcats Friday Night Lights football events.
Residents are at moderate risk for flooding and should prepare themselves as well as their properties for the rainy seasons in late winter. Flooding in previous years has impacted roadways, access to utilities and emergency services in addition to properties needing water damage restoration services. It’s important to have a plan in place when you live in or near floodplains. It is uncommon, however, tornadoes have been documented in the area. Although they have been weak, they still cause property damage with the accompanied severe thunderstorms and penny sized hail.

Obviously nobody wants to have to a disaster in their home like we did, but thankfully, SERVPRO fixed everything in minimal time and the job they did was fantastic!
We called right after an upstairs flood. Andrew, a Technician, was on call and called us back immediately. Andrew came out right away, accompanied by Cody. Both were knowledgeable, professional, respectful (wore face masks during COVID pandemic) and thorough - putting us immediately at ease about all of our worries.
In the end, they were careful to only tear down the minimal amount of drywall necessary. Erica in the office handled the insurance and helped us through the process.
Hopefully it will be a long time before we have any further flooding or emergencies, but we would certainly use SERVPRO of Vancouver again if we had to. Highly recommend!!!
