Some say don’t blink or you will miss it – but don’t let the small town fool you. Joanna is the largest unincorporated community in Laurens County. The community settled in the late 1700’s the town was known as “Martin’s Depot” named after a local planter Martin Kinard who had a major hand in bringing the Laurens Railroad through the community. In 1872 the name of the town was changed once again to “Goldville” after the Joanna Manufacturing Company came to the community. The town was renamed once again to Joanna – the wife of a local industrialist.
With a population less than 1,600 hundred people you can bet everyone knows everyone in the town of Joanna. Joanna offers residents a rural feel – country living at it’s finest. – Most residents in the town of Joanna own their own home – making the town a Joanna a place to put down your roots if you want don’t want the hustle of a larger town.

SC – if you are looking for the best burger in town- then look no further than the Joanna Café – but plan your trip accordingly because during lunch time this place will have a line out the door.
