The town of Gray Court is a small town located just a few miles North of the City of Laurens. The small town feel of Gray Court is evident to all who pass through this historic community. Cherokee Indians first used this area as a hunting ground. The First settlers in Gray Court were the Owings family who came in 1757 from Maryland. Gray Court was first named Dorrohville for the Dorroh family who once operated the Stagecoach Inn and the Post Office. When the Civil War broke out – there were only four homes and a stagecoach stop for travelers who were passing through. When he Charleston & Western Railroad was built, the community started thriving.

Gray Court - Owings has many historic homes, churches, and businesses – the grounds of the Gray Court- Owings Schools are on the National Register of Historic Places. The location of this beautiful small town is a prime area for growth. Many manufacturing plants have moved into the Owings Industrial Park located right off Interstate 385 – the potential for growth is this area is high for the location with accessibility to Interstate -385.

There are many community functions throughout the year to celebrate the heritage of this small town. In partnership with the United Way of Laurens County - The Little Free Library was opened in September 2020 providing books to children in the community.
