Moonachie was established in 1910 and is reportedly named after Monaghie, an Iroquois chief who lived in the area in the 1600’s. The town is bordered by Carlstadt, Hasbrouck Heights, Little Ferry, South Hackensack, Teterboro, and Wood-Ridge.
County Road 503 goes through town which is called Moonachie Road. This stretch has many nice restaurants including Tango Argentina Grill, Bistro 107, Bazzarelli, Segovia, and Bocadillo. During the COVID-19 pandemic, SERVPRO had the privilege of providing Covid cleanings to help many businesses in town stay open during this time.
The east side of town has many larger, more industrial, businesses. This area is closer to the Hackensack River near Little Ferry.
