Hackensack Cleanup and Restoration

Hackensack has many notable locations throughout the city.  The city is very diverse in terms of both construction type and usage. Notable city features include Hackensack University Medical Center, a residential high-rise district along Prospect Avenue, suburban neighborhoods of single-family houses, older homes on large lots, older two-family neighborhoods, large garden apartments, industrial areas, the Bergen County Jail, the Hackensack River, large office buildings, Fairleigh Dickinson college campus, the Bergen County Court House, a vibrant downtown district, and various small neighborhood business districts, and the NJ Naval Museum, home to the submarine USS Ling.

SERVPRO has had the privilege of assisting many of these locations with water damage restoration, fire damage restoration, clean-ups, and COVID-19 cleanings.  Some of the lower-lying areas are especially prone to flooding during times of heavy rain and storm surge as the Hackensack River is still tidal where it goes through the city.  One organization we were proud to have assisted is the Hackensack River Keepers.

The Hackensack Fire Department is a career department with approximately 100 members.  Tragically, The Hackensack Ford dealership fire on July 1, 1988, resulted in the deaths of five firefighters after a bowstring truss roof collapsed. This event has been used as a case study ever since and has resulted in nationwide improvements in communication, understanding of building construction, mayday procedures, accountability, and commercial building codes.
