Bogota is a borough in Bergen County NJ that was formed in 1894. The name is believed to come from a prominent early family of settlers named the Bogert’s. The town is located on the east bank of the Hackensack River. The town is divided into 2 sections by the CSX railroad that nearly splits the town in half. The east side of town is predominantly commercial while the west side is mostly residential. The town is bordered by Hackensack, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck.
Notable people from town include NFL football player Richie Incognito who was voted to the pro bowl 4 times in his 15-year career. Photojournalist Eddie Adams won a Pulitzer Prize for his photo of a Vietnamese General executing a Vietcong prisoner on a Saigon street in 1969.
