The village of Brandon, MN was incorporated in 1881. The town was laid out after the railroad was built. Before the railroad, the town was called Chippewa and was located two miles north from where it is today. Brandon was named in honor of Brandon, Vermont where United States Senator, Stephen A. Douglas, was born. In the 2020 census, the town of Brandon had 501 people.

If you ever find yourself in the small town of Brandon, Minnesota, you will have to check out the local winery, Burr Vineyards. The vineyard is located next to Burr Lake and has over ten different types of wine. An absolute must visit if in the Brandon area. Just make sure if you go on a Friday to place your pizza order beforehand as they sell out almost every week! (It’s that good) The town is also located along the Central Lakes Trail, which is a 55 mile long bike trail stretching from Osakis to Fergus Falls. Definitely a must if you are an outdoors lover!

The hotel had a fire June 2024 in the wee hours of the morning. At approximately 6:30am that same morning, SERVPRO arrived on property, set up their command post and literally within minutes, SERVPRO trucks, vans and employees started showing up.
