Alexandria, MN was first settled in 1858 by brothers Alexander and William Kinkead of Maryland. They chose the name Alexandria to relate to Alexandria, Egypt - a center of learning and civilization. In 1909, Alexandria became an incorporated city and has been growing ever since. According to the 2020 census, the population was at 14,335 citizens. A fun fact about Alexandria is that if you are a local you most likely call it "Alex" or "Alec" for short. (Often a very controversial topic)

Alexandria is one of Minnesota's top lakes area destinations. If you have ever visited Alexandria, then you know why it is visited by thousands of tourists each and every year. If you are ever in town, make sure to check out some of the top-visited spots in the area, including; Big Ole, Carlos Creek Winery, Country Blossom Farm or Lure Lakebar. The town is also located along the Central Lakes Trail, which is a 55 mile long bike trail stretching from Osakis to Fergus Falls. Definitely a must if you are an outdoors love. Alexandria is a wonderful place to book your next long-weekend or vacation!

The hotel had a fire June 2024 in the wee hours of the morning. At approximately 6:30am that same morning, SERVPRO arrived on property, set up their command post and literally within minutes, SERVPRO trucks, vans and employees started showing up. The SERVPRO team new where they were to go and what they needed to do. It didn't stop until their job was finished approximately 3-4 weeks later.
