The quaint village of Oxford, MI is located in the northeast section of Oakland County and occupies one square mile. It was settled in 1823 and incorporated as a village in 1876. Oxford earned its nickname, "Gravel Pit Capital of the World" from its extensive gravel pits back in the day. Many of those gravel pits have now been transformed into lakes, providing an abundance of recreational opportunities. Sea Ray boat owners that own a boat from the 1960's would have had their boat produced in Oxford where they unveiled their first lineup. After Brunswick Corporation purchases Sea Ray, the Oxford plant closed.
