Olney is located in Montgomery County, MD. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 31,438 and total housing units of 10,415.
In 1763, Richard Brooke received a patent for a tract of land in the Province of Maryland. Originally known as Mechanicsville, the village that became Olney was established in 1800. The area was mostly farmland, but soon began attracting artisans. Early residents Sarah Brooke and Dr. Charles Farquhar were devotees of the English poet William Cowper, and named their home after the poet's hometown of Olney in England. The area was later named for their home, which still stands and is known as the Olney House.
The Brooke family held the largest tracts of land in Olney, whose central village was at the intersection of the Rockville to Baltimore Road, and the one that connected Washington, D.C. with Westminster to the north. The Quaker community in Sandy Spring thrived just to Olney's east. The Sandy Spring Museum is a historical museum featuring educational programs and displays. St. John's Episcopal Church was established in 1842 and still stands today.
Once a quiet village of mostly farmland, Olney is now a well-established residential town that has earned statewide & nationwide recognition. Olney sits 20 miles from DC and minutes away from Metro stations & the Intercounty Connector (ICC).
With unemployment rate of 4.7% and a high school graduation rate of 96%, Olney attracts attention with outstanding academic and employment results. On a recent Thursday before Memorial Day, I was traveling outside of the country, with my niece staying in our house, when she discovered a catastrophic leak coming from our third floor hall bathroom. Water had flooded the bathroom, adjacent bedrooms, was pooling in the drywall in our second floor dining room, was pouring down from our dining room chandelier, soaked our dining room set and made its way down through our hardwood flooring, and was dripping from our basement ceiling onto the carpeting of our finished basement. My niece called me frantically when she discovered the leak, and in turn I made a quick call to Trinh Le of SERVPRO of Rockville... Within one hour of that phone call, one of her teams was in our house working diligently to stop the water and mitigate the damage. They worked late into the evening, sopping up water, pulling up carpeting, removing fixtures, carpeting and drywall, and installing air movers and evaporators to address the water issues. We arrived home on Saturday night, and first thing Sunday morning another team met us at the house to assess the damage and determine what further steps were necessary. Unfortunately, water had gotten into the tile floor in the bathroom, and further remediation work was done on the spot, even though it was a Sunday during the memorial day weekend. The SERVPRO of Rockville team worked directly with my insurance company, they were fast and responsive, highly professional and saved me from a much bigger issues had I not called them. Each of the technicians I worked with explained to me in detail the steps they recommended and why, and gave me the great comfort of mind to know that their judgments were sound and necessary. I hope I never have to use them again, of course, but if I do you can be certain that I won't hesitate to call on SERVPRO of Rockville to help mitigate my flooding and water damage - they are the very best at what they do!

Love the people who work here as their customer service is exceptional. They are a professional group that is also extremely community minded. I observed them clean and restore a neighbor's house a few years back and have not forgotten how efficient and thorough they were... and I know they still are.
SERVPRO (of Rockville-Olney) came and did an excellent job! They came to my house very quick. They explained everything with my water damage and were a pleasure to work with.
Briand and his team were excellent. I couldn't ask for a better crew -- they removed all the floors in the master bedroom and bathroom and laundry and set up the air vacs and dehumidifier. Before embarking on anything Briand explained to me what was to be done and he answered all the questions I had for him. The crew with him were awesome. On the appointment dates and times, they were there on time and called me 15 minutes before arrival. One thing I can attest was the respect they had for my items and the trust as I did not need to worry. Safety and trust was key for me and I would trust this Team and would highly recommend Briand.
Sergio and two other (crew members) were outstanding and did an amazing job of cleaning and removing a dreadful mess when our garage ceiling fell down with what looked like tons of loose insulation. We cannot thank them enough.
The crew showed up very soon after we called them and stayed late into the night until the job was complete. Everyone was very professional and worked non-stop until finished. We were told when they would arrive and they showed up right on time and went right to work.
