Melbourne Beach is Brevard County’s oldest beach community. In 1879, a hotel, the Oak Lodge, was built for researchers and naturalists on a 164-acre location near Aquarina. In 1921, the Melbourne Causeway was built, connecting Melbourne Beach to the mainland.
In the early part of the 1900’s an oceanfront business called the Casino was a town focal point. Its main use was as a recreational hall, but it did indeed have slot machines for gambling. Some of its other features include a swimming pool and small concrete cubicles that could be rented out overnight, almost like early-versions of motel rooms. In addition to events at the Casino, there were other recreational activities around town including Sunday school meetings, a public library, Bingo nights, and The Iceman’s Ball. By the time of The Great Depression, the population growth was still relatively stagnant. Through World War II there were still no more than one hundred residents in town.
The real population boost came with the development of our nation’s Rocket Program at Cape Canaveral beginning in the late 1950’s; it brought enormous change to surrounding areas, including population increases and economic prosperity. Our town experienced commercial growth, the creation of a busy two-lane state road that cut straight through town, and the installation of our first stoplight. In spite of all this change, Melbourne Beach was able to preserve much of its past and original charm. Even today, everything one needs is within walking distance, and bicycles are everywhere. There are now over three thousand people who call the town home.

Everyone was wonderful! I didn't name specific team members because there were so many.
SERVPRO of South Brevard's mitigation technicians and construction crews were very honest and performed very good work. All of the guys were nice to our kids when they were around, and we are thrilled with our repairs.
On Saturday, August 5th, 2017, we awoke at 5:00 A.M. to water running out of a broken pipe below the sink. We turned off the water and began running a wet-vac to remove what we could of the water. SERVPRO of South Brevard was contacted to take care of the job around 7:30 A.M.
Around 8:30 A.M. Alex Joseph and Shawn arrived, assessed the problem, and began applying necessary corrective measures. This included measurements of affected areas, checking moisture in locations that I would not have checked, placing fans and dehumidifiers, changing fan locations, removing fans and dehumidifiers from areas that were dry. This continued until Tuesday, August 8th, 2017.
Alex and Shawn showed dedication above and beyond "normal" employees, in that they were available and ready to tackle a long job on the weekend on short notice.
Alex showed superior management skills in ensuring the teams time was used to ensure the maximum amount of work done, in the minimum time necessary to accomplish the task at hand. At all points of the job, Alex kept me informed, not only of the progress, but also the projected time needed to complete each phase of the job.
Alex's knowledge and expertise showed in his professionalism and mannerism as the team worked on the job. His general timeline was accurate as well.

June 8th, my wife and I woke up to about 2 inches of standing water in our house, our hot water heater had caused the leak and our insurance suggested that we use SERVPRO. So far this was one of the best decisions we made during this process, they came out within the hour, and immediately helped to sweep up and get rid of the remaining water before setting up all of their dryers and dehumidifiers. When I was at work, and they were left to make appointments with my wife for follow ups, they treated her with respect and kindness that you would have expected a family member to give. She told me that while she cried, they not only succeeded in doing their job, they succeeded and comforting her as well. If you find yourself in the terrible position of having to deal with the unfortunate life events that they are experts in cleaning up, they are the people to go to.
I was impressed with Armand and his team. They were very professional, and they kept the area clean as they worked.
