In the late 1890’s, the Village of Maple Bluff was established by Thomas E. Coleman.  Prior to that the village was occupied by the Winnebago tribe because of its ample fishing and hunting along Lake Mendota.  Today Maple Bluff is the home of the Wisconsin Governor's Mansion.  An estimated 20,000 visitors a year visit the Governor's Mansion for receptions, dinners, meetings, and public tours.  

Sitting on 3.7 acres of land along beautiful Lake Mendota, the Mansion’s living space consists of 34 rooms, 13 bathrooms and 7 bedrooms.  Along the street side of the property you will find the wrought-iron fence which once surrounded the old State Capitol Building.
