The Township of Dunn, located south central Wisconsin, was originally part of the Town of Rome. In 1848, Dunn was given its name by order of the Territorial Legislature. Originally the name Dover was decided upon but interestingly enough, someone’s poor penmanship caused the name Dunn to be given instead.
The Township of Dunn has an abundance of rich agricultural and natural history. Most of the land was originally prairie which was in high demand because the soils were very suitable for crop production.
Today Dunn has a variety of parks and open spaces throughout the community and along the shores of Lake Kegonsa, Lake Waubesa, and the Yahara River. Long ago the many lakes, springs and creeks brought Native Americans to the area to reap the abundance of game and fish.
