Anacortes Fire Damage and Water Damage
The city of Anacortes is named after the wife of an early settler, Amos Bowman. Her name, Anne Curtis, was adapted to Anacortes, and the city was incorporated in 1891. Bowman moved his family to the area in 1877 and promoted it as a terminus for the Northern Pacific Railroad. The railroad was not completed, and the town became a center for fishing and timber mills.
The Anacortes Farmers Market is open every Saturday from May until the last Saturday in October at the depot from 9 am to 2 pm. The winter market runs on the second Saturday of each month from January, February, March, and April from 9 am to 2 pm.
The Anacortes Public Library provides a number of programs for children, teens, and adults in the community.
