Nestled in the suburbs of Eastern Henrico lies the town of Highland Springs. The community of mostly family-owned homes was founded in the 1890s as one of the streetcar suburbs of Richmond, VA. Long ago, a New York doctor called the water from Bonanza Spring "one of the most valuable therapeutic agents known among the natural remedial solvent waters in the world." Bonanza Spring, or Tucker Spring as it became known later on, put the Springs in Highland Springs and was one of the main reasons the community is where it is. While the streetcars and railways no longer exist, the town of Highland Springs still remains as a community where people looking to escape to the suburbs from the city move to. In the heart of Highland Springs sits the Highland Springs Community Center, a quaint rental facility for events, surrounded by a picnic area, play equipment, and athletic fields. The main road in town, 9 Mile Rd, allows short distance travel for its residents to many areas of shopping and restaurants. Also along 9 Mile Rd, is the Henrico Theater. The Henrico Theatre is an Art Deco-style building that was built in 1938. It originally was closed in 1996 but was purchased by Henrico County who invested in its restoration, and the theatre was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

He had a resident come talk to him about his apartment repairs and he took the time to answer all of his questions about what was going on and was so respectful and helpful to all of us while he was here.
