Orangefield is an unincorporated community in Orange County, Texas. It is part of the Beaumont-Port Arthur Metropolitan area and consists of about less than 1,000 people. There are several things to do in the area including the Orangefield Cormier Museum. 

The climate of Orangefield is generally mild, but temperatures have been known to drop below freezing or soar as high as 90 degrees. Historically, the weather has gotten colder and hotter than these extremes—but that's not normal for this area. This area gets an average of 60 inches per year -- more than the national average.

History of Orangefield, Texas

The town developed just east of orange around an oil field in 1913. The name "Orangefield" came from the shortening of what it was originally called "Orange Oil Field." A post office was officially established in Orangefield in 1922.

This was an area where oil boomed before it really boomed before the rest of the state. The Bland oil well was discovered in 1913 and was referred to as Old Faithful for the oil that spewed out every hour or so. For the next 10 years, people began to lose a little hope in the oil industry until it boomed for the rest of the state.

The area had a second boom in 1937 when they discovered another pocket of oil. The town was revived until World War II ended the oil boom as people were needed elsewhere.
