Longview is proud to be the hub of East Texas outdoor recreation and leisure travel, and is famous for its fine dining and historic downtown.  The Great Texas Balloon Race is a competitive event attracting world class hot air balloon pilots from around the world who compete for points toward national and international titles. There are 25 lakes, within 75 miles of Longview, providing many outdoor activities.

Longview is the county seat of Gregg County and is located on the U.S. Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 80 corridor that stretches from Dallas/Fort Worth through Shreveport/Bossier City, La., Dallas lies 125 miles west of Longview, and Shreveport is 60 miles east.

Longview was established in 1870 in what was at the time southern Upshur County; the town incorporated in 1871. After Gregg County was created in 1873, Longview was voted the county seat. Today, Longview is considered a major hub city for the region, as is the nearby city of Tyler. Companies with significant presence in Longview are Eastman Chemical, Trinity Rail Group, AAON Coil Products and Komatsu Mining. Colleges and universities in the area include LeTourneau University, Kilgore College, and the University of Texas at Tyler's Longview University Center.

Our insurance suggested ServePro for pack-out and restoration of our home after plumbing failure flooded our home. I am working with Jerry Ivenson and David Rios for the restoration part and that is not yet underway, but the "pack-out" is done and I am quite impressed with the team who boxed and prepped our belongings. Nef, Sandra and Alexa came yesterday and did an amazing job prepping and boxing our things. They used quality wraps and blankets and moved heavy furniture with ease. The photos are of the work the three women accomplished in just 6 hours. Today, they returned and finished the prep work. Brandon and UT arrived later and began the heavy lifting. By 4:00 they had everything out of here except for the water-damaged furniture that had to stay behind. Now the restoration work should begin and I'm hoping that goes as smoothly as this "pack-out" went. I'll be back to give a separate review on that.
