Where is Highlands, TX?
Highlands, TX is a census-designated place (CDP) located right along the east coast of Bear Lake. The area has a lower population compared to other towns surrounding it but is the home of two major RV resorts, San Jacinto Riverfront RV Resort and Houston Leisure RV Resort. These resorts are perfectly located for couples and families interested in camping and hold beautiful views of Bear Lake.
Highlands, TX has an interesting history. The area was first inhabited as a pitstop of the Beaumont, Sour Lake, and Western Railway and even built its first post office in 1929. From then on, the population of the area has fluctuated. Now the area is mostly a camping area by the lake and an industrial area further inland.
