A Brief History of Lakesite

Located on top of the Cumberland Plateau in Middle Tennessee, our town features lush forested areas with springs and streams running through it. The area has a rich Native American culture thanks to its history as farmlands along the Cumberland Trail. The history of Lakesite includes oil exploration and coal mining. The town of Lakesite was incorporated in 1972 because of two residents campaigning for incorporation. This suburb grew by 66 percent after incorporation and the population grew. There area bout 1,800 people in Lakesite, Tennessee.
