With the city limits reaching the border of Tennessee and Georgia, it is easy to travel using State Highway 321. East Brainerd is not an incorporated town, but it is considered a Census-Designated Place. This area of Hamilton County was only farmlands for a very long time. This community was also originally called Concord until the main road became East Brainerd following the consolidation of Sunnyside, Dutchtown, and Belvoir into Brainerd.
