Blackville is a small town in Barnwell County, South Carolina, near Aiken. The town of Blackville was named after John Alexander Black, a railroad promoter, who chose this city as a stopping point on the railroad between Charleston and towns in Aiken County. With close proximity to the Savannah River, it served as a viable railroad resting place for those transporting lumber and goods. The railroads remained an important aspect of the town of Blackville, until the civil war, where the Union soldiers destroyed them. 

Barnwell County State Park was created in 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps to offer hiking, fishing, and more to Blackville and Barnwell residents. The good climate and warm weather brough Mennonite travelers to settle down in the area. Miller's Bread Basket is a local classic restaurant that has been in operation since 1987. It boasts a  Amish-Mennonite menu that displays home cooked meals and freshly baked desserts and breads. A local landmark is the God's Acre Healing Springs. This natural spring is on a small patch of land whose legal owner is considered "God". According to local traditions, the spring holds healing powers that supplied Native Americans with a water source centuries ago. It is a quaint little town with rich historical roots. The Heritage Museum of the Blackville Bay is a local stop for all things Blackville. The museum has been collecting photographs and relics of the town for the last few years, and holds pieces dating back to the mid 19th century.
