Weatherly is a rural community in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. This small town is filled with fascinating history that inspires visitors to this day!

Weatherly's humble beginnings date back to 1825, when a man by the name of Benjamin Romig purchased 400-acres of prime timber land. The town was initially named Black Creek, after the dark water that flowed through it's hemlock swamps. In 1848, clock-maker David Weatherly promised to build the town a clock if local officials would agree to rename the town after him. Weatherly passed away before he could build the clock, but the town kept it's name. The borough was formally incorporated on October 8th, 1863.

From 1850 to 1890, Weatherly's population grew rapidly due to the Lehigh Valley Railroad's acquisition of local railways. During this time, American steel magnate Charles Schwab played a significant role in the development of the town. After marrying town resident Eurana Dinkey, Schwab gifted Weatherly with a three story brick school building that still stands today. Other historical landmarks in Weatherly include the Ecly Miners' Village Museum and the Weatherly Train Works.

In addition to its historical significance, Weatherly boasts breathtaking natural scenery. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, biking and hunting at Lehigh Gorge State Park. Several waterfalls throughout the park have become popular local swimming spots.
