History of Roaring Springs
The history of Roaring Springs, Pennsylvania is a saga filled with daring pioneers and tales. Long before the first European settlers arrived, Native American Indians hunted and lived along the waterways that sprung from deep beneath the ground in this area. The earliest recorded Europeans to find their way here were fur traders who arrived in 1732 looking for pelts. The small town came into existence in 1848, when a man named Philip Wacker settled at the base of Mount Katahdin Mountain. Driven by his thirst for gold, he spent three years prospecting in the area, but failed to find much success. Deciding that there would be better fortune elsewhere, he set off down the mountain and built a cabin at the confluence of two fast-flowing rivers.

This experience was so scary. We were on vacation and hose to our dishwasher was chewed through and there was water everywhere. That evening they had a crew there to start clean up and to start drying everything out. They were very thorough and answered any questions we had.
