Nesquehoning is a quaint borough in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. The town was established in the mid-1800s as a result of the anthracite coal mining industry. In 1963, it was incorporated as a borough. Today, Nesquehoning includes four distinct neighborhoods: Lake Hauto, Old Hauto, New Columbus, and Nesquehoning Village.

Long before the arrival of European settlers, native people of the Delaware, Iroquois, Shawnee, Minisink, Lenape, and Paupack tribes inhabited the area now known as Carbon County. The word "Nesquehoning" is of Native American origin, commonly believed to mean "narrow valley."

Nesquehoning is known for its eye-catching historic architecture. Built in 1917, the town's former High School was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Nesquehoning is also home to several historic houses of worship, including St. John's Orthodox Church and St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church.

Beautiful Lehigh Gorge State Park runs through Nesquehoning. The park includes over 6,000 acres and is a popular local hiking destination. In Spring and Summer, Nesquehoning residents enjoy fishing and whitewater rafting at Lehigh Gorge.
