Dallas is a medium size town about 15 miles west of Salem the capitol of Oregon. Did you know? Dallas spent much of the 19th and 20th centuries as a railroad and lumber town, where logs from the surrounding forests were sent down Rickreall Creek to a waiting sawmill. A lumber company founded here grew into Willamette Industries, one of the largest forest-products companies in the world. Today peaceful Rickreall Creek flows through the city and Dallas City Park, which occupies the site of the old mill. Dallas is known too many to be a a growing and a very warming place to raise your family. Dallas hosts a holiday light parade in the winter and spectacular fireworks show in the summer. Its historic downtown frontage is charming and also still houses the county jail and police station.
