West Liberty is a small Ohio village that was laid out in 1817. In the beginning, the village only had 5 stores, a few mills, and about 20 residential homes. The village remains quaint to this day with less than 2,000 residents. Located on busy U.S. Route 68, some may think of West Liberty as a drive through town to their desired destination, but the village has a few hidden gems that worth the stop to see. First being the Piatt Castles, built in the 1860s and 1870s by brothers Donn and Abram Piatt, these Gothic style castles are open for public tours. Second is the Ohio Caverns, the largest cave system in Ohio featuring many crystal formations giving it the nickname of “America’s Most Colorful Caverns”.

This region in Ohio is characterized by four distinct seasons. Winters are cold, summers are muggy, and there is significant precipitation year-round making the area susceptible to water damage.  The winter months bring with it snow, ice and frigid temperatures causing potential pipe freezing and burst.
