The City of Wadsworth, located in the southeastern corner of Medina County is the 3rd fastest growing city in Northeast Ohio and the 4th fastest growing city in the state of Ohio.  We offer municipally-owned electric, Internet and cable services.  Families who live here are a mix of new residents and those who have lived here for generations.

Coal mining in Wadsworth began in the mid 1880’s. In fact the Silvercreek Mine shipped over 1100 tons of coal in one day, which is a record that is believed to have not been broken yet.  An impressive record considering the coal was dug by hand and transported by mule pulling small carts thru the mine shafts.  Coal mining stopped in the 1930’s, but the mine shafts still remain beneath Wadsworth.

The City of Wadsworth today offers retail stores, Hotels, a Community Center and much more.  We also have one of the area’s last remaining drive-in movie theaters.  There are over 200 acres of parks for families to enjoy hiking, playgrounds, fishing, ice skating, biking and more for recreation and relaxation.
