In the rolling farmland of southern Medina County you will find historic Downtown Seville. There you will find buildings over a hundred years old. Dating back to a time when Seville was part of the Interurban streetcar system. This was how people could take electric streetcars from Cleveland thru Seville and all the way down to Columbus. Seville was founded in 1816 by Henry Hosmer at the junction of two creeks, the Chippewa and the Hubbard.
The city is also known as the home of the giants. Captain Martin Bates and his wife Anna moved here in 1871 and they both measured over 7’ tall and were considered giants at the time. There is a sign at the Stanhope Park describing their amazing story.
