DeGraff became a village in Ohio in 1850. In the early days several large fires wreaked havoc on the small village. The largest and most destructive fire started in July 1914 in a livery barn and caused nearly half of DeGraff’s business district to be destroyed and caused $100,000 worth of damage. The community came together and began the cleanup with the hopes of rebuilding DeGraff to be a better town than ever. There efforts were not wasted, as the small village continues to grow to this day.
