In 1880, Mesquite was founded by Mormon pioneers who called it Mesquite Flat. It took several tries to establish a community due to flooding from the Virgin River. Once a community was established, Mesquite became incorporated and farming was top of mind! While farming was a great start for the small town, a bigger plan was put in place to open casinos and help boost the local economy. By 2006, Mesquite was one of the fastest-growing small towns in the United States!
