South Toms River is known as Exit 80 off the Garden State Parkway. We are only about 1.2 square miles and are situated along N.J. Route 9 and Ocean County Route 530 (Dover Road). Our children attend our one elementary school here in town and spend warm afternoons at one the local parks, South Toms River Park, Manitou Park or Mathis Veterans Memorial Park. Mathis is waterfront along the river. It hosts an annual Youth Day every July with local craft and food vendors. Every October it also hosts Food Truck on the Waterfront which is fun for the entire family. There is entertainment, inflatables, a petting zoo, hatchet throwing, fireworks and a DJ all from the STR EMS and the Manitou Park Volunteer Fire Company. The borough council hosts an annual Halloween decorating contest that encourages community pride by decorating our homes in the spirit of the holiday. We have a great pier over the river at Cedar Point to fish or crab. There is the Lighthouse Point Marina and Yacht Club on Grabbe Road that is great spot with a view of the river with the boats and sailboats go by. In May and September we hold our town wide yard sale events for the entire community to participate in.
