New Egypt has that old town feel and is super family-friendly. Even though we are named after Egypt, there are no pyramids or pharaohs here. The town is believed to be named after a biblical allusion about "going to Egypt for corn" that was plentiful in the area. The "New" was added around the 1930s to differentiate it from other Egypts.
We have the New Egypt Speedway has a clay track for modified, sportsman cars and street stocks and Laurita Winery and Inn, 250-acre vineyard surrounded by woodlands, meadows and pastures, has events almost every day of the week in the warmer months. The weekends they host festivals with food trucks, fire pits, bands and is the perfect place to catch up with our friends, neighbors and community. Oakford Lake & Paradise Park is a great place for fishing and has access to the Crosswicks Creek. Besides fishing, the lake is great for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and has a boat launch. The lake also used to hold an annual Lake Carnival with carnival boats but ended around the start of World War I. Emery’s Berry Patch, a 60-acre farm, is a must in the summer for pick your own organic blueberries. Saratoga Farms might be known as a horse boarding facility but they are also known as one of the best chicken hatcheries in NJ.
