Lanoka Harbor is a small coastal town with a population of a little over 8,000 people and just one neighborhood. It has gone by multiple names in the past: Cedar Creek, Williams, Williamsburg, Aumacktown and Lanoka.
Post offices of the past used to be in private homes. In 1819 ours was in the home of William Aumack hence the town name Aumacktown. The name Lanoka was founded based on the oak trees of George Lane, a postmaster about a century later. Samuel Rogers added harbor in 1924.
An interesting spot here is Murray Grove is a Unitarian-Universalist Retreat and Conference Center on a 20-acre campus nestled in the Pine Barrens in Lanoka Harbor. This is traditionally considered the site where Universalism in America began. They are a venue for the arts, where artists in all media present and develop their art, in service to the spirit of love, hope, and courage.
Located on the Barnegat Bay with numerous lagoons, a beach, Cedar Creek, and a yacht club, Laurel Harbor Yacht Club. Cedar Creek is a perfect for non-motorized watercraft like canoes, kayaks, row boats and paddle boards. Being surrounded by these waterways has given us our fair share of storms and flooding. I had a pretty big issue with a flood in my bathroom, bedroom and a few smaller rooms. Roland Miller and his partner Jim did a great job educating me on the process and then performing the required cleanup They put my mind at ease (as much as possible) given the circumstances. I recommend them highly.
We had a sizable amount of water damage due to a problem with our refrigerator. We notified SERVPRO of Jackson/Lacey on a Wednesday afternoon, and the crew arrived promptly the next morning. Roland and Marvey were wonderful as were the rest of the team. All work to be done was explained clearly and thoroughly. Everyone took the utmost care when moving our furniture and packing contents of the drawers. They made a stressful situation more tolerable. All workers were totally professional, yet extremely personable and friendly. I would highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors and would welcome Roland, Marvey and any of the crew back into my home without hesitation. When the job was finished, we felt as though we were saying goodbye to friends rather than workers! Such a great group of competent and respectful men.
