Lakehurst, NJ is a quiet residential community located in South Jersey. At the turn of the century, Lakehurst was renowned as a posh winter resort town when the Pine Tree Inn was constructed and the luxurious Blue Comet train stopped to drop off guests. From 1919 until 1962, the United States Navy conducted its Lighter-then-Air Program at Lakehurst. Some of the largest machines created by men were launched into the air from the base at Lakehurst, which is also the home of the nation's first international airport.
When you mention Lakehurst to non-residents, the first thing they usually name is the famous Hindenburg crash. The airship disaster happened in 1937 during an attempt to land at Lakehurst Naval Air Station. Unfortunately it caught fire and disintegrated into a raging ball of fire near-instantaneously. Despite its enduring legacy as a horrific disaster, less than half of the people on board the Hindenburg actually died. The site is on an active Naval Air Station that is part of a joint base with Fort Dix. They do offer tours and they are conducted by the Navy Lakehurst Historical Society.
We also have the Cathedral of the Air with beautiful stained glass depictions of the history of human flight which is a Norman-Gothic chapel but is more of a temple to the ingenuity of human innovation against the limits of the sky. The chapel is surrounded by pine trees which our area is known for and also surrounds Pine Lake, Crystal Lake and Harry Wright Lake.

I had a pretty big issue with a flood in my bathroom, bedroom and a few smaller rooms. Roland Miller and his partner Jim did a great job educating me on the process and then performing the required cleanup They put my mind at ease (as much as possible) given the circumstances. I recommend them highly.
We had a sizable amount of water damage due to a problem with our refrigerator. We notified SERVPRO of Jackson/Lacey on a Wednesday afternoon, and the crew arrived promptly the next morning. Roland and Marvey were wonderful as were the rest of the team. All work to be done was explained clearly and thoroughly. Everyone took the utmost care when moving our furniture and packing contents of the drawers. They made a stressful situation more tolerable. All workers were totally professional, yet extremely personable and friendly. I would highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors and would welcome Roland, Marvey and any of the crew back into my home without hesitation. When the job was finished, we felt as though we were saying goodbye to friends rather than workers! Such a great group of competent and respectful men.
