Just off Exit 72 on the Parkway, Forked River, also known as part of the Jersey Shore, encompasses over 84 square miles and is one of three sections along with Lanoka Harbor and Bamber Lakes that make up Lacey Township. Located on the Barnegat Bay, this waterfront community gives both residents and visitors many locations to enjoy the water such as lagoons, bay beaches, lakes and even a pathway that leads to the Atlantic Ocean. Currently we have three marinas that people can use for boating, sailing and boating.
If you have had too much sun or just something to do on a rainy day, there is the Old Schoolhouse Museum. Run by the Historical Society, it is a unique historic site located at 126 South Main Street/Route 9. The Popcorn Park Zoo & Animal Refuge is such a beneficial organization to our community and a great way to spend an afternoon visiting the recovering animals. Recently a local brewery, Backward Flag, opened up in our town that is woman owned & veteran brewed.
The Forked River sub-watershed contains the Forked River Mountains (two gravelly hills) that is the highest point in Ocean County at 184 ft. above sea level. Our sub-watershed boasts a wide variety of rich habitats including freshwater bogs in the Pinelands, Atlantic White Cedar and maple gum swamps, freshwater creeks and lakes, tidal saltmarsh, maritime forest, and upland forest. Unfortunately, being a waterfront community near multiple waterways can bring flooding and water damage to residents. We had a sizable amount of water damage due to a problem with our refrigerator. We notified SERVPRO of Jackson/Lacey on a Wednesday afternoon, and the crew arrived promptly the next morning. Roland and Marvey were wonderful as were the rest of the team. All work to be done was explained clearly and thoroughly. Everyone took the utmost care when moving our furniture and packing contents of the drawers. They made a stressful situation more tolerable. All workers were totally professional, yet extremely personable and friendly. I would highly recommend them to my friends and neighbors and would welcome Roland, Marvey and any of the crew back into my home without hesitation. When the job was finished, we felt as though we were saying goodbye to friends rather than workers! Such a great group of competent and respectful men.
Having everyone involved in the restoration process in our home working tirelessly has been a pleasure. Chris was incredible, keeping us informed of each step required to complete the job and making sure all work was handled professionally and respectfully. We now have beautiful new hardwood floors and carpeting and couldn’t be more pleased with how the friendly and highly competent workers finished the job.
I want to give a big shout out to SERVPRO of Jackson/Lacey! We woke up to a flood early Sunday morning in our first floor bathroom that leaked down into our basement. I called SERVPRO° at 6:30am and was immediately greeted by Shannon. She could hear the panic in my voice, but she quickly walked me through the process of turning of the water source and assuring me everything would be "Like it never happened". Within 2 hours, a team arrived to clean up! Did I mention this was a Sunday morning?? Jerry and Warner, the crew men, kept me calm while they assessed the flood and damages. They reassured me again and again that this was a simple clean up for them! Within 2 hours they had my home looking like it never happened! Over the next 4 days, Shannon and Julie called us daily to check on the status of the dryers/blowers and to see if we had any questions or concerns. Shannon was wonderful with helping us to navigate filing the claims with our home owners insurance company throughout this process. Jerry and Warner came everyday to check on the blowers and continued to monitor for any potential moisture buildup. Overall, SERVPRO° left our home dry and free from any potential water damage and mold. Thank you SERVPRO for saving the day!!!
