Beachwood may not look big on the map, only 2.7 square miles, but it has lots to offer. There are two schools, a diverse culture and stunning nature. Beachwood Elementary School “Home of the Bears” offers Kindergarten through fifth grade and Intermediate South offers from sixth through eighth grade.
We do not lack for outdoor space. We have two great places to relax near the Toms River at the Riverfront Marina or the Beachwood Yacht Club. Our largest park is Jakes Branch County Park, AKA "The Gateway to the Pines" and it highlights the beauty, history and natural surroundings of the Pine Barrens. Jakes Branch has a nature and 5-stories atop of the center is a viewing area to see the surrounding areas. Birch Surf Recreation Area is a smaller park but with a lot to offer. It annually hosts Beachwood Community Day every August. Local vendors along with pony rides, a petting zoo, live music, crafts and games makes this event perfect for people and families of all ages. Whether you spend time near the water or at our park, you will spot some of our beautiful flying friends over the water or trees.
As with any town that enjoys life on the water, Beachwood is no exception to wet weather and flooding. We get a few bad rain storms and thunderstorms a year, along with the occasional tropical storms, hurricanes and snowstorms. We have even seen are fair share of flooding, storm and water damage. Superstorm Sandy, in October of 2012, brought the Toms River into the yards and homes of many residents and business. SERVPRO was here for the preparation, through the devastation and helped in the cleanup after Sandy left. Hopefully, Beachwood will be spared from any more devastating storms like that in the future. If we do experience another storm like Superstorm Sandy, SERVPRO will be here to lend a hand to our friends, neighbors and community.
