Located in southern Wake County, North Carolina, Fuquay-Varina is known for it's location on the "Fall Line," where waterfalls begin to form along the creeks and rivers. While the spring and the fall tend to be moderate, the summers can be hot and humid because of the proximity to the Atlantic Coast. This town of an estimated 30,000 people is home to many parks including: Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Park, Fuquay Mineral Spring Park, Action Park and Falcon Park. This North Carolina town also includes The Playhouse Children's Museum, which includes seven different playhouses for kids to explore.
History of Fuquay-Varina
Fuquay-Varina was not always one town; it was originally two separate towns. Fuquay was found by Frenchman William Fuquay in 1858 after he and his son discovered a spring. The son, Stephen Fuquay, believed this spring had healing properties, and word spread quickly. In 1860, Fuquay sold the springs to a group of local investors. At the same time, J. D. "Squire" Ballentine had just returned from war to become the first postmaster of the local post office just south of the spring. Ballentine's wife, Virginia Avery, signed all of her letters to him with the name Varina, and it stuck. Ballentine later named the post office "Varina" in her honor, and the town became known as Varina.
It wasn't until 1963 that Fuquay Springs and Varina merged to become one town, Fuquay-Varina. Fuquay-Varina is one of the many towns in Wake County our team at SERVPRO® services. I highly recommend working with Will Watson from SERVPRO of Southwest Raleigh. We had a backup in our plumbing that resulted in interior damage on two floors. Will Watson arrived the next morning and handled the job from start to finish. He was extremely detailed and did very clean work. We had just had a newborn, and they went above and beyond sealing off the damaged areas and removed all damaged material.
He also documented the entire process and communicated with my adjuster. Highly recommend.
