Rockport’s Water and Fire Damage Restoration Experts
Rockport is primarily a suburban residential and tourist town, but it is still home to a number of lobster fishermen and artists. Its rocky beaches and seaside parks are a favorite place for tourists from the Greater Boston Area and Rhode Island among other places. Richard Tarr, a granite cutter and the first settler of the Sandy Bay Colony, lived in the area that is now Rockport in 1680. The area provided timber for shipbuilding, especially pine, and granite was extracted from the Sandy Bay quarries. The Cape Ann area provided one of the richest fishing grounds in New England and in 1743 a dock was built at Rockport harbor on Sandy Bay and was used for both timber export and fishing. By the beginning of the 19th century, the first granite quarries were developed and, by the 1830s, Rockport granite was being shipped to cities and towns throughout the east coast of the United States. Rockport can be susceptible to the unique problems of living on a New England coastline. SERVPRO’s professional teams are trained to handle the worst of problems such as Fire and Water Damage and care for precious keepsakes and property like it’s their own. Being a small franchise has its perks in such a small area where they can be there for residents quickly because they live in the community.
Although the demand for granite decreased with the increased use of concrete in construction during the Great Depression, Rockport still thrived as an artist’s colony which began years earlier due in part to its popularity as a vacation spot known for its rocky, boulder-strewn ocean beaches, its history as a prominent fishing harbor, and its mentions in media like that of Rudyard Kipling's "Captains Courageous". A red fishing shack on Bradley Wharf in Rockport, known popularly as "Motif Number 1", has for years been one of the most famous sites on Cape Ann as the subject of hundreds of paintings and photographs, and is visited by aspiring artists & tourists alike from all over the world. When the intense winter storms and other inconvenient events happen, SERVPRO is there for the community to help with their Water and Fire Damage Restoration needs.

Great Service! The team came in for a deep clean of our restaurant bar. Overall, the team was detailed and they did a fantastic job. Bar is clean!!!!
My event started with a tree crashing through the roof during a heavy rainstorm. I called SERVPRO of Beverly/Cape Ann and they had a Project Manager on-site within hours to evaluate water damage. Water remediation began the very next day and demo followed by reconstruction all occurred in a very short time span. Communication during the process was A+. They worked closely with my insurance appraiser which made the whole process that much smoother. I was very happy with the workmanship of the rebuild and SERVPRO’s sensitivity to the occupants in the house during the entire process. Tony, Matt, Gary, and their team did a great job getting the house back to normal. Thank you.
During a severe rainstorm in January, our office took in water. When I called SERVPRO of Beverly/Cape Ann, they responded promptly. The team extracted most of the water within two hours and set up blowers and dehumidifiers. Throughout the process, Gary and his team came back multiple times to assess the moisture level in all affected walls and carpets. They kept me informed at every stage and documented damages. Because of their prompt response and attention to detail, minimal damage was caused. The entire team was courteous and professional. I highly recommend Gary and his team at SERVPRO of Beverly/Cape Ann.
