Asbury is a small city located in eastern Dubuque County, adjacent to the west side of the City of Dubuque. The city was founded in the 1830s by Methodists who named their church after Francis Asbury, the first bishop of their faith in America. However, Asbury did not achieve city status until 1933, after the repeal of prohibition, in order to have legalization of beer sales. Incorporation was necessary because it was not until later that county boards of supervisors were empowered to issue beer permits in rural areas.



Asbury has a rich history of commercial activity, which began before the automobile facilitated travel to Dubuque. However, the city's incorporation had nothing to do with its commercial background. One of the first census counts in Asbury accredits the city with only 27 citizens. Between 1960 and 1970, Asbury grew from 71 to 410 residents, making it the fastest growing city in the state at that time. Since 1970, the city has grown to more than 5,451 citizens.

The city's growth over the years has been accompanied by an increase in amenities, including many great restaurants and shops. There are also many parks and trails throughout the area, offering a variety of outdoor activities for residents and visitors alike.

I needed someone to inspect a unit for me on very short notice. I called and was able to speak with Bob. Despite being bery busy both with his business, and that day in particular, with personal appointments as well. He was not only able to swing by and evaluate my rental unit without having set up an sppointment, but get back to me just a short time later to give me a report minutes after walikg out of his dental appointment. The guy has never met me and went out of his way to help out a first time customer that has never given him business before. The guy and the business both are gourmet. They treat you like a friend not a number and really care about making things easy and fast as possble. I dont leave many google reviews but this one is warranted. If 6 stars was an option id have done that.
