Asbury is a small city located in eastern Dubuque County, adjacent to the west side of the City of Dubuque. The city was founded in the 1830s by Methodists who named their church after Francis Asbury, the first bishop of their faith in America. However, Asbury did not achieve city status until 1933, after the repeal of prohibition, in order to have legalization of beer sales. Incorporation was necessary because it was not until later that county boards of supervisors were empowered to issue beer permits in rural areas.
Asbury has a rich history of commercial activity, which began before the automobile facilitated travel to Dubuque. However, the city's incorporation had nothing to do with its commercial background. One of the first census counts in Asbury accredits the city with only 27 citizens. Between 1960 and 1970, Asbury grew from 71 to 410 residents, making it the fastest growing city in the state at that time. Since 1970, the city has grown to more than 5,451 citizens.

We had water in our basement from a bad storm like lots of other people. I called around 7:30 and by 8:30 a team was there getting things cleaned out. Things that were to be junked was taken away and we didn't have to do it ourselves. They sent the paperwork to our insurance so we had to do nothing with that. Todd and his team were a HUGE help to us when the spring snow melt sent water into our basement. Todd came out personally to look at what was happening and where the water was coming in. He was back the next day to help move a couple pieces of furniture and put a fan under the carpet to help dry it out. I was out of town on business and he was a HUGE help to my wife with advice on cleanup and prepping for the drying cycle.
